Encouraging women and non-binary students to pursue a PhD in Mathematics and creating a support network for students and researchers in Mathematics and related disciplines.

The Piscopia Initiative is a UK-wide network of women and non-binary undergraduate/MSc students, PhD students, and researchers in Mathematics and related disciplines. We organise both UK-wide and university-specific events at 18 UK universities through our local Piscopia committees, with the aim of encouraging women and non-binary people to pursue a PhD in Mathematics. We also want to support and celebrate current postgraduate students and researchers at all career stages.

PiWORKS – An online seminar series

PiWORKS is a monthly online seminar series, organised by our co-lead Victoria. The series aims to provide a taste of research to maths students and highlight the work of women and non-binary role models across the UK.

This month’s seminar will be from Dr Layal Hakim, from the University of Exeter, with a talk entitled: “My journey in academia: a focus on teaching and scholarship in higher education mathematics “. Follow the link below to register.
